Budapest has
three underground metro lines intersecting at Deák tér.
Trains runs at regular intervals of between 3-4 minutes (from 5:00
am to 11:30 pm). The metro stations are easily located on the streets
by the 'M' symbol. If you buy the Budapest Card it provides unlimited
2 or 3 day travel on the entire public transport network.
Tickets are
available at newsstands, some tobacco shops, ticket offices and
vending machines. Do not forget to validate another ticket when
changing the line.
Metro
Lines in Budapest
M1 -
Földalatti, the little yellow line from downtown Vörösmarty
tér to Mexikói út. The first subway in Europe
built in the 1890s.
M2 -
the Red Line. Runs from the eastern outskirts of the city (Ors vezér
tér), past Keleti (Eastern) railway station and on to the
Belváros before crossing under the Danube to Pest's Déli
pu (Southern) station.
M3 - the Blue Line. Runs from the northern suburbs to the
busy Deák tér interchange, before heading south towards
the Airport and Kobánya Kispest.
