Travelling by Tram in Budapest
The network of tram (villamos) routes throughout the city provide a fast, frequent way to get around. There are more then thirty lines running on the main radial and riverside routes on both sides of the Danube and several of the bridges. At the tram you have to validate your ticket by using the punching machines as you board. Don't forget to push a button next to the door if you want to get off.
Do note, if you buy the Budapest Card it provides unlimited 2 or 3 day travel on the entire public transport network.
Trams, trolley buses and subways usually operates between 4:30 am and 11:00 pm.
Tickets are available at newsstands, some tobacco shops, ticket offices and vending machines.
