In the vicinity you can find a wildlife park and tourist trails through the forest. The Castle district, with all it's museums and sights is ten minutes away by car. Pest is also easily available by both public transport and car.

Chair lift from the valley to the top of the hill By the "Libegő" you can climb in a few minutes from Zugliget up János hill the city's highest point whose look-out tower has a full panorama of Budapest.
Budakeszi Vadaspark Zoo and game park in the Buda Hills showing live animals both original to this area and those domesticated here in their natural habitats. Small and big game and the natural flora of the Buda Hills. Open to visitors: Mon - Sun: 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. To get there: by bus 22 from Moszkva tér to the Korányi Szanatórium from there walk about twenty minutes on the marked route.
Sashegyi Természetvédelmi Korzet (Sas Hill Nature Preserve Area) Nature preserve area in the middle of the city: protected plants and plant associations dolomite flora rock formations. Open to visitors: March 15 to June 15 and September 1 to October 1: Sat - Sun 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. To get there: from the junction of Alkotás utca and Hegyalja út on the marked route.
Caves It is one of the unique traits of Budapest that the hills around the city are rich in caves. The number of caves which are formed by thermal water springs is 170. Among these three are currently open for visitors.
Palvolgyi barlang (Pál Valley Cave) The longest cave in the Buda Hills and the 3rd longest in the country. The 500 meter long section is rich in stone formations. Open to visitors: all year. To get there: from Kolosy tér by bus 65.
Szemlohegyi barlang (Szemlő Hill Cave) This is one of Hungary's doubly protected caves. The visitor section can be visited with guided tours Open to visitors: all year (except Tuesdays) 9 a.m. to 4 p.m.. To get there: from Kolosy tér by bus 29.
Varbarlang (Castle Cave) A labyrinth made up of a chain of natural cave halls and artificial cellars under the Castle Hill. To get there: from Moszkva tér by Várbusz. |
